I have just finished making some soy candles, bath milk, etc. to sell.....?
Has anyone got any tips on selling door to door? Would local businesses be better than houses?
I have to agree with the person who answered before me - avoid door to door. First off, it's your safety at risk if you don't know who lives there. And really, no one likes door to door sales. Have you considered a website? I was totally overwhelmed by the prospect, but once I got started it really wasn't too bad. (www.candlejules.com). With summer coming, I bet there are tons of local fairs or art events in your area. Maybe try setting up a booth there to get your name out. Make sure you have business cards with all your contact information to hand out as well as having that information on the products you are selling. When I was working, I took candles to work and sold a ton that way. My husband burns them in his office, and yes, even soldiers like to smell nice and they placed orders! (And to kiss up to their wives...lol). Give them as gifts at showers and parties and that will work up a buzz about your goods as well. And lastly, if you're going to try local businesses, make small samples of your work to give to owners along with your contact information. Good luck and I hope that helps!!
